WMV export

I was wondering if there is a way to use Media Encoder to export files in WMV format using a Mac. It says here "Windows Media (WMV; Windows only)". Is there any possiblity to integrate a Mac - WMV converter like Flip4Mac into the Adobe Media Encoder.

I know that I can use Flip4Mac to export WMVs from QT Pro. But It would be nice to have one program where I can save all of my export presets for.

Workaround? - Using Interpret Footage AME renders active content only for original movie length

$

I submitted a bug on this behavior, but I am hoping that someone has found a workaround or maybe I am just using Interpret Footage incorrectly.

Here is the problem:

1. Import 20 second long 23.976fps source file into AME

2. Right-click item in Queue and choose Interpret Footage

3. Choose "Assume this frame rate:" and set to 18fps - Duration will update as expected to 0:00:26;19

Results:

Output file will have correctly re-timed active content up to 0:00:20;00 and then hold that frame (which correctly corresponds to 0:00:15;00 from the source file) to the end of the file at 0:00:26;18

Expected results:

Output file should contain the full content of the source file re-timed for the new duration.

NOTE: This behavior will also be apparent in the Export settings Preview window prior to encoding.

Video Encoding for DVD with Media Encoder

$

I've been struggling to get more videos on a DVD. Since I'm not an expert on this. Most of my vides are about an hour long and are mostly PowerPoint slides and screen capture of programming demonstrations.

I just keep wondering why DVDs I get to watch TV shows can have 4-6 hours of media when I can barely get two.

Any help would be appreciated.

Very Strange Behaviour

Here's an error I haven't encountered before so I'm hoping someone might have an idea. No matter what setting I use to render out a video when I queue the PP sequence, AME opens up with this setting.

Format:Animated GIF

Preset:320x240 10fps

I've never used this setting before so it's not left over from the previous job. The only way I can export a video is directly throuhg PP.

Thanks

Can i resume encoding after my computer rebooted?

After 30 hours of encoding of a AE COMP, my computer rebooted by himself for a reason not related to media encoder. The encoding process is not finished, but i have the files done during the 30 hours. It is possible to tell media encoder to finish what it started before the reboot?

New Media Encoder Error: video and/or audio filters are missing...

My colleague reported this error popup window while using Adobe Media Encoder CC (up-to-date):

"video and/or audio filters are missing and the rendered output may not match the original"

I've been seeing similar errors the past few days. I can't remember if the wording was the same in the errors I saw, but the circumstances were the same.

I've never seen this popup error before the most recent CC update.

Some background info:

  • I queued up multiple Premiere Pro pproj files as usual from within Premiere
  • without rebooting or deleting any cache or temp files or anything, I start the queue
  • I have no special plugins installed in Premiere. Vanilla CC install.
  • Windows 7, 64-bit

This error doesn't tell me what audio/video filter(s) are missing. The output files, once I dismiss this warning, are perfect.

The major problem: It stops the queue dead in it's tracks. Sure, it might seem handy to stop and give you a warning, but when it's a false report and there's nothing wrong, it's killing us, because we queue up multiple files for encoding overnight, and we're not here to get the popups.

What is likely causing this? Is it a bug that this is appearing so frequently? Has anyone else experienced this besides my colleague and I?

Thanks!

I make very low budget documentaries using historical footage. I edit in DV, and output the final programme to .mov (DV). I am now being asked to supply my work as .mxf op1a. Can anyone give me some advice on how to covert my .mov files.??

Slow rendering on rMBP when display is off

$

I'm batch rendering Premiere Pro CC timelines to MPEG 2.

These are 3 minute movies that take about 30 minutes when I render them direct from Premiere Pro CC.

When I queue them in AME the rendering goes slower.

Renderings then take up to 40-50 minutes. So in AME it's slower. But these times are do-able.

The rMB from late 2013 is blowing like hell (that's a good thing becuae then rendering goes fast). But when my display turns off after 15 minutes the rendering slows down. Renderings then take up to almost 2 hours per movie. The blowing of the fan stops when the display is off. But apparently the rendering speed as well.

In the preferences panel from the Mac "put hard disks to sleep when possible" is unchecked.

Of course I can have my screen always turned on. But another rMBP from mid 2012 has burn-in issues because of that.

So I'd rather have AME working when the display is off.

Could this also be an Open CL thing?

Adobe Media Encoder cannot be opened because of error 606. I googled this but it seemed to be mostly a Blackberry issue.

Dynamic Link between Ae and AME is not working?

I an trying to render a comp from Ae in AME. I click on Composition and select add to Adobe Media Encoder Queue. Sometimes AME will not even open, other times AME opens but the comp never shows up in the queue. So I drag the project into the queue. If I right click to manually addjust settings, the dynamic link window comes up but it never opens the dymanic link settings box.

If I skipp trying to change setting and just click the "start queue" button, AME gets stuck in "Connecting to Dynamic Link server..." and  I just hear that annoying sheep sound wav after about 5 minutes and my projects are never encoded/rendered.

AME hangs at "Reading XMP Data" and won't start encoding

System:

Mac OSX 10.8.5

2 x 3.06 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon

64 GB RAM

ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 MB

Premiere 7.2.1 (4)

AME 7.2.0.43

I've created short videos, usually 4 to 12 minutes in length.  Edited from Sony XDCAM EX video at 720p60.

I export 5 of these videos to AME using the h.264 codec to try to create mp4 files and cueue them in AME.

Once they are in the Queue of AME, I hit start.  AME shows the progress at the bottom and says it is Reading XMP data, but it

then never progresses to the encoding process.  I just keep seeing that yellow and grey barber pole progress bar moving, but nothing

ever happens.

I've used this process for months with no problems and now it won't work.  My coworkers and I have the same setup and we are each

haveing nothing but problems ever since Premiere and AME went past 7.0.

I saw it mentioned in another question to uncheck "Enable native Premiere Pro sequence import".  I tried that yesterday and it worked.

Today it does not.

Please help, this is getting rediculous the amount of problems we are suddenly having with Adobe products and a maxed out Mac machine.

Why no presets for H.264 at 59.94?

I noticed there are no presets for H.264 at 59.94 for 1920x1080. Is there a reason? Will it not work at 59.94 at 1920x1080?

FlashMediaLiveEncoder!

Media encoder is killing my file

I have a windows video file that works fine when I run it.

I used the Adobe Media Encoder CS5.5 to try to convert it into flv format.

It attempts to load the file, but gives up, saying that the file has a bad header.

After that, the file HAS a bad header, and no longer works.

Luckily I had back up copies so I was able to replace the 12 +megabyte file.

I can reproduce the problem every time, using my back up copies.

The file is on line at http://www.slaithwaitemoonraking.org/images/movies/MoonRaking2.wmv

Other files encode to .flv with no problem, so it must be a problem this file alone.

Regardless of a file error, Media Encoder should not make changes to a file just by accessing it.

Has anyone else had this problem?

AME export is 126% duration of source video

I've tried changing the frame rate, using the "match source attributes" preset, and changing the video quality to no avail. It was working smoothly on the previous, say, 50 exports, and I had changed nothing. What gives?

No audio on H264 outputs created from mpeg original

Hi

This has happened twice now, and I'm not sure what cleared it before

I've created a clip using 'Match Sequence settings' and created an mpeg file which has audio.  If I automatically (using the my watchfolder option) or manually, by dragging into AME create a wmv or H264 version, they have no audio!

Any ideas?

I'm using CC on a windows PC with a FX3800 NVidea card.  CUDA as renderer

I think if I export stright to the H264 from PPro, that works fine

Thanks in advance

Media Encoder CC Encoding Failure

$

I have never had any problems with Media Encoder on my system, but since ugrading from CS6 to CC suddenly the Media Encoder fails whenever I use the QUEUE rather than EXPORT on the Export Settings screen in Adobe Premiere Pro CC.

When I click the Failure link for more information, it just pulls up the log which tells me that Encoding Failed.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Any ideas for how to resolve it?

It's not a huge problem because I can always encode each video one at a time by clicking export, but being able to batch process a bunch of videos at a time helps the workflow.  THANKS!
